Help us to Fuel Her Fire in 2024!
For more than a century, Girls Inc. of Greater Lowell has been equipping girls to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers to grow up healthy, educated, and independent. For decades, community supporters like you have come together at the Girls Inc. of Greater Lowell’s Holiday Auction to help ensure girls have a safe place to learn, thrive, and become Lowell’s future leaders.
This year’s event is very special to many at Girl’s Inc. and the surrounding community. With support from this auction, we will be celebrating the dedication of our 220 Worthen Street building in memory of our remarkably Strong, Smart, and Bold leader, Carol S. Duncan.
Carol served as Girls Inc. of Greater Lowell Executive Director from 1991 until 2013. Under her leadership, the organization flourished, developing new and innovative programs focusing on literacy and STEAM; raising over $400,000 to create a new Teen Center Program to allow the organization to serve girls from 5 years old to 18 years old and beyond; and taking Girls Inc. to unprecedented heights in the Greater Lowell Community and with Girls Inc. National. Carol was an extraordinary leader who cared deeply about all girls. Her leadership was characterized by a deep commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging. She saw potential in the girls they didn’t see in themselves. She was a beacon of hope, a guiding light, and a source of strength for girls. Carol inspired their passion to always strive for excellence and to make a positive difference in the world.
Your generous participation directly supports the day-to-day operations, in addition to helping ensure that girls continue to have access to a combination of long-lasting mentorships where they are empowered to achieve their dreams.
